Description
A vintage Winchester .30 Army Blank Smokeless Ammunition Box, partially open and containing 19 live brass rifle blank cartridges. The utilitarian cardboard packaging is typical for the early 20th century, with printed labels identifying it as “WINCHESTER .30 CALIBER BLANKS, MODEL 1909,” “LOADED WITH SMOKELESS POWDER,” and “ADAPTED TO Springfield Rifle, Model 1903, and Winchester Repeating Rifle, Model 1895.” Further text indicates they are “CENTER FIRE CARTRIDGES” manufactured by the “WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., New Haven, Conn., U. S. A.,” with a date code “5-17” (May 1917) and product numbers “2998” and “2999.” A warning label from Winchester is present on the top flap. The visible brass cartridges inside are marked with “W.R.A.CO. .30-06” headstamps.
Condition report:
The cardboard box exhibits considerable wear, discoloration, creasing, and minor tearing consistent with age and storage. The contained cartridges appear to be in good, uncorroded condition.
