Description
A vintage cardboard ammunition box, manufactured by The Union Metallic Cartridge Co., Bridgeport, Conn., U.S.A. This box contains 44 live rounds. The paper labels, characteristic of an early 20th-century style, identify the contents as “50 CENTRAL-FIRE CARTRIDGES FOR .32 CALIBRE WINCHESTER,” also marked as “.32-20 W.C.F.,” with specifications for “20 GRS. POWDER 100 GRS. BULLET” and compatibility with Winchester, Marlin, Colt’s, and other Rifles and Revolvers, noting “Inside Lubricated.” Inside the box, approximately 25 intact brass cartridges, headstamped “U.M.C.” with copper primers, are present alongside approximately 25 separate grey lead projectiles and some white fibrous packing material.
Condition report:
The box and its paper labels exhibit considerable age, wear, creasing, tearing, and discoloration. The cartridges and projectiles show typical age-related tarnish and oxidation.
