Description
A Winchester Model 1892 lever-action repeating rifle, featuring a 20″ barrel and chambered in .32 caliber. The rifle combines dark patinated steel/iron metalwork with a dark brown wooden forend and a replaced buttstock. Visible markings include “48 R 166” stamped into the left side of the receiver, and partially legible text on the top tang that appears to read “NEW HAVEN, CT.” (New Haven, Connecticut). A small brass-colored panel is present on the right side of the receiver, and a similar brass component is seen within the buttplate.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits significant signs of age and heavy use. The metal components, including the barrel, receiver, and hammer, show a worn, dark finish with areas of discoloration, rub marks, and light surface pitting. The wooden forend shows extensive cosmetic wear, including numerous scratches, dents, and visible cracking. The buttstock has been replaced and also shows considerable wear. Functionality has not been tested.
