Description
A Winchester Model 1873 Special Order Lever-Action Repeating Rifle, constructed from steel with a wooden stock and forend. The upper tang is marked “MODEL 1873”. The barrel bears the inscription “WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. – KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860.”, indicating its late 19th-century origin. The caliber is marked “32 WCF” on the barrel. A serial number “244524B” is present on the lower tang.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits significant wear consistent with age and use. The steel finish is heavily patinated and discolored with areas of surface rust and finish loss. The wooden elements show numerous scratches, dents, and wear to the finish. The rifle appears structurally intact.
