Description
A Marlin Model 1894 Marlin Safety Model lever-action rifle, constructed with a darkly stained wood stock and fore-end, and steel or iron metallic components including the barrel and receiver. The receiver is marked “MARLIN SAFETY” and “MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U. S. A.” with patent dates “OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL 2. 1888. AUGUST 1. 1893.” The tang bears the marking “MODEL 1894,” and a serial number “120774” is present near the receiver. The rifle features a 24″ BARREL. WOOD HAS A LITTLE SHRINKAGE IN THE WRIST.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits significant wear consistent with age and use. There is extensive loss of original finish, surface pitting, and scratches on the metal components. The wooden elements show various dents, scuffs, and areas of finish degradation. The wood has a little shrinkage in the wrist.
