Description

An early 20th Century partially filled box of .30-30 Smokeless Central Fire Cartridges manufactured by The Union Metallic Cartridge Co. (U.M.C.) of Bridgeport, Conn., U.S.A. The box contains 7 live rounds. The utilitarian cardboard packaging is printed with “U.M.C.” trade logos and originally specified “Twenty” cartridges. It details “170 Grs. Soft Point Bullet” suitable “For Winchester, Marlin and Savage Rifles,” and features a line drawing of a bullet. A red circular “GUARANTEE” seal on the bottom provides information about the special smokeless powder and explicitly states that “shells should not be reloaded.” The cartridges inside are brass, visibly tarnished and corroded, with “U.M.C. 30-30” headstamps, housed within a deteriorated cardboard divider.

Condition report:

The cardboard box is significantly worn, discolored, and shows multiple tears, creases, and scuffs, consistent with considerable age and handling. The internal cardboard divider is deteriorated. The 7 live rounds are visibly tarnished and corroded.
