Description

A 19th-century antique break-open frame revolver, identified as a Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 “Old Army” Revolver, chambered in .32 Rimfire. The revolver features an exposed hammer, a fluted six-chamber cylinder, and an octagonal barrel fitted with a brass front sight. It is constructed primarily of steel, with the barrel clearly marked “SMITH & WESSON N. SPRINGFIELD MASS.” The butt of the grip frame bears the alphanumeric stamp “T-4297”. Faint, illegible markings are also present on the top strap. The grip is fitted with dark wood birdshead grips, secured by a brass-escutcheoned screw.

Condition report:

The item exhibits an aged, dark patina with significant wear and finish loss across all steel components. There is extensive surface discoloration consistent with its age and use. The wood grips show wear and minor handling marks. The revolver appears structurally complete.
