Description
A Winchester Model 97 pump-action shotgun manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, Conn. The shotgun features a 28″ blued steel barrel and magazine tube, a mottled patinaed steel receiver, and dark stained wooden buttstock and ribbed fore-end. Visible markings on the barrel include “MODEL 97- WINCHESTER- 16 GA. 2¾ FULL,” “TRADE MARK,” “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN.,” and a series of patent dates ranging from November 25, 1890, to July 5, 1910. The serial number “868167” is stamped on both the receiver and the barrel, with an “E” also present on the receiver. The buttplate is a black, checkered composite material embossed with the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. logo.
Condition report:
Consistent with age and use. Significant wear to the bluing and wood finish. Numerous minor scratches and dings present on the wood. Metal surfaces display a visible, somewhat uneven patina.
