A WWI US Military Mess Kit frying pan, constructed primarily of aluminum with a hinged or folding metal handle. The exterior base features hand-engraved markings including ‘W. Owsby,’ ‘Verdun,’ ‘ILLS.’ (an abbreviation for Illinois), and a stylized star or emblem containing the number ‘7’ or ‘A7’.

The item is in well-used condition, showing extensive surface scratches and abrasions throughout. There are patches of discoloration, dark residue, and reddish-brown corrosion, particularly noticeable on the exterior bottom and around the handle\'s attachment points. The handle itself exhibits significant wear and surface rust.
