Description
A vintage Western “Super Match” .38 Special Mid-Range ammunition box, containing 34 live rounds and 15 empty brass casings. The printed cardboard box, in blue and yellow, originally indicated a quantity of “50” cartridges and specifies “CENTER FIRE,” “148 Grain Lead Clean Cutting Bullet,” “Non-Corrosive Priming,” and “Smokeless Powder.” It was manufactured by Western Cartridge Co., East Alton, Ill., U. S. A., and features a visible U. S. Pat. No. 2,009,556 and an “Oilproof” marking on an end flap. Inside, the cartridges are arranged in a cardboard tray. The contents present as a mixed lot from various manufacturers, including Winchester-Western, Remington-UMC, Federal, and Remington-Peters.
Condition report:
The cardboard box is in poor condition, exhibiting extensive tears, creasing, and surface wear, notably a large tear on the main display face. Some shells show tarnish and minor surface corrosion.
