Description
A vintage Winchester .32-40 Caliber 2-Piece cardboard box, dating to the early 20th century as evidenced by a “Patented June 28, 1910” marking. The box features prominent paper labels identifying the contents as “WINCHESTER” brand, “.32-40 CALIBER CENTER FIRE CARTRIDGES” loaded with “SMOKELESS POWDER,” “SOFT POINT METAL PATCHED BULLETS” weighing “165 Gr.,” manufactured by the “WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CONN., U. S. A.” Handwritten “32-40” is also visible on the bottom. The box contains 20 empty brass, which are headstamped “W.R.A. Co.” and either “.32-40 W.C.F.” or “.32-40.”
Condition report:
The cardboard box is in poor condition, showing extensive wear, discoloration, tearing, fraying, and surface grime, especially on the top label. The 20 empty brass cartridges appear generally intact with age-appropriate tarnish and patina.
