Description
A Winchester Model 1897 pump-action shotgun, chambered in 12 gauge, featuring a 28″ barrel. The blued steel components are paired with a wooden stock and a ribbed fore-end. Barrel markings include “MODEL 1897,” “WINCHESTER,” and “12 GA.,” along with “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.” and patent dates ranging from November 25, 1890, to October 16, 1900. The barrel is marked “FULL” for choke. The serial number “375290” with a ‘D’ marking is present. Small ‘W’ in circle proof marks are visible on both the barrel and receiver. The butt of the stock is fitted with an aftermarket “WHITE LINE RECOIL PAD” marked “PAT. PEND. L.A. CAL.”
Condition report:
The item is in fair condition. It exhibits significant bluing loss, surface wear, scratches, and areas of rust or patina on the metal parts. The wooden stock and fore-end show dings and abrasions consistent with age and use.
